The Declaration on the Fourth of July

On July 4, 1776, the Continental Congress adopted the Declaration of Independence, announcing the independence of the 13 American colonies from the Kingdom of Great Britain.

On the Fourth of July, and everyday, its words resound more strongly than the loudest of fireworks:
“…We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness…”
