Alexa & Google devices

I did a quick search to see if someone has brought up the subject of Alexa and Google in employees homes during this COVID and
remote working.   I saw comments from 2018 but not currently.

Some large organizations have told their employees to disconnect these devices in the employees home.
These are employees who may have discussion regarding patient admissions, payor information etc.   This could be during
conference calls, ZOOM or other group on-line discussions.

Outside of the obvious, HIPAA regs, does anyone have a remote policy for their employees.?

In my opinion, and this is not advice, legal or otherwise, (most especially not legal as I am not an attorney) the remote digital assistant policy should be the same as the on site digital assistant policy. No remote digital assistant capable devices in any area where patient care is discussed or provided. Note I did not say turn the device off I said not allowed "on" or "off".

Thanks for your comments.   We are a specialty pharmacy.  Out remote employees are our reimbursement staff who
receive referrals, get authorization for therapy and deal with physicians when documentation is needed and payors to justify the therapy.   There have been some conferencing through Zoom.
This is yet another opportunity for compliance information to be shared with all employees.
