  • 1.  Compliance Week 2020

    Posted 08-06-2020 11:30 AM
    Hello All,

Compliance Week is coming soon. What are some activities that your health system has used to engage employees? Since we are in the midst of COVID-19 all of our activities are going to be virtual. What online/virtual activities have you used that peaked the interest of employees? Or, if this is new to you too, what plans or ideas do you have in mind?

Last year we had a game show theme, we are trying to come up with a way to make some of the games virtual or maybe going in a different direction all together to keep things fresh, new, and interesting. Any ideas that you can share would be helpful. I look forward to collaborating with those that respond to this post.

    Thank you!

Following this, everything we have done in the past have been in person activities. I think staff really needs something interesting and fun after all that has gone on this year.

If anyone needs in person ideas last year we did a poster contest (handed out large pieces of paper and crayons, posted had to be related to compliance, FWA, HIPAA, etc.We also setup few "Non-Compliant" desks through out the office and empoyees had the week to guess the 10 non-complaint issues with the desk. This was a huge hit. Winners got really nice prizes.

We are 95% remote this year so Virtual ideas would be great.

I'm late to the party but also struggling with associate engagement ideas for Compliance Week 2020 in a COVID-19 world. How are you all tackling it?

We're late to the party as well having never celebrated Compliance and Ethics Week at my current organization but we are this year! :)

In the past my prior organization did numerous in person events but obviously we can't do that due to COVID. We did some online events to engage with outlying staff, so I think I'm going to try to draw off that experience.

    • Announce that this will be occurring / partner with your communications team
    • Establish your budget
    • Come up with a theme
    • Consider some giveaways, if permitted and have a few things people actually want to win LOL not a coffee mug
    • Come up with daily as well as weekly ideas that are not a huge time suck. Use survey monkey or a similar tool to incorporate at least 1 question so people can respond and you can track this as education / use that to draw your daily / weekly winners.
      • A crossword puzzle
      • What's wrong with this picture
      • Daily trivia
      • A daily blog that allows staff to tell you in their own words what in means to them to live your Code of Excellence
      • Partner with your education team to do videos
      • Have a contest: sing us your best compliance song. One company did that and it was an absolute hoot.
    • Keep the list going everyone - what are your ideas?
