Conditional Formatting - Static vs Dynamic...C&C

I received  nice number of offlist emails asking for me to illustrate what I meant by the use of conditional formatting that is what I will refer to as static and that which is dynamic.

The use of dynamic conditional formatting, as seen in the video at the link below (which does not require a pass code to view and will only be up through today) does have some advantages and can really push your effectiveness in displaying data visualization (red, yellow, and green used here) in a way that is much easier to manage when adjusting your parameters on what may represent different levels of performance in what you may be measuring.

Feel free to post feedback...and here you go!

I am not hearing any sound but it could just be my connection. I will wait to see if anyone else has any problems.

Another tool for my toolbox.  We're currently looking at retooling some reports, so very timely.  Thanks, Frank!

    Glad to hear it Marie.

This technique is particularly useful in the area of risk assessments and risk analysis.  For example, some folks use some of the ISO standards to establish strategies to safeguard data.  Using some of these standards, and using something called Monte Carlo analysis, organizations can come up with a good picture of the range of risks that they may be facing...and this pushes the "stoplight" approach to new levels of applicability and practicality, in my view.

Just one example of how using this type of technique can be VERY helpful.
