We are implementing Secure Chat as well and ran into your message here. I am struggling with this as it impacts whether these chats contain clinical information for medical decision making and how to differentiate those from general conversations about an upcoming meeting to include or not in the legal health record, policy around purging these secure chats, etc. Has anyone else responded to you privately that may have shared some insight?

My organization is in the process of developing its own instance of Epic and there have been some questions around the controls that need to be put in regarding the use of the Secure Chat function. For those unfamiliar with Epic, Secure Chat is an instant messaging application within Epic that allows a user to chat "live" with members of their organization or other providers. I am wondering if anyone in the community has any information to share regarding the use of this function or a similar function for other EMR's.
