I am curious what others would think if a hospital pays an independent physician's travel expenses for a hospital approved conference. The physician is on staff but not employed. The physician travels to this conference but stays several extra days for personal/vacation time. Would this be viewed as a gift to the physician, possibly non-monetary compensation or conflict with other regulations? any thoughts or comments are greatly appreciated.
