    Good morning,

I've been researching assisted living facility compliance to try to get a sense of the general ALF compliance landscape.  In doing so, I came across an article claiming that Medicaid Fraud Control Units' (MFCU) recoveries increased by 640% from FY2016 to FY2017.  I pulled these reports and verified that this is true ($1,252,129 from 37 actions compared to $168,991 from 20 actions).  I also can't help but to think about the Esformes case currently developing.  I'm inclined to think that perhaps this is becoming a bigger focus area for the Federal government.

I have two questions to put to the group:

    1. Do you believe there will be increased scrutiny of assisted living facilities over the next few years?  (Details always appreciated.)

    2. Beyond the FCA and HIPAA, which areas of compliance are you particularly concerned with as they relate to ALFs?

    I appreciate your feedback!
