Checking In

Good Morning Southern Bell checking in.

Georgia has nearly 5000 cases and 154 deaths thus far. Things moving fast around here. Georgia Governor signing a mandatory "shelter in place" order until April 13th, but could be extended. He ordered our schools closed for remainder of the year.

My sweet Mama is 88, and I can tell this is weighing on her heavy. We have had her in quarantine for 4 weeks. That is a long time of  somewhat isolation other than my sister and brother-in-law. She is watching way to much TV....it will certainly scare the bejeevers out of you! We are on the end of Week 2 of working from home, so I am beginning to understand. So for our mental health, we need to encourage one another to remember to watch the news in moderation, and, maybe go for a walk (w/social distancing), listen to music, read a book, or anything that wards off anxiety and depression. I do believe many will suffer from PTSD due to this pandemic. It is a real thing.

Stay safe and find something to laugh from your gut about today my friends...it is the best medicine!!!

Southern Bell signing off for now.

Good morning- SongBird checking in from Cincinnati!
Vicky, i love your updates, and couldn't agree more!

Ohio has 2547 cases and 65 deaths.  none in the counties we serve.
We are to "stay home" til May 1, and i believe we will get an order today to restrict that even further.
They are expediting the enrollment of police officers and re-hiring retirees, as they believe we will be hit in about 2 weeks.

Finishing up our 3rd week of work from home.
The weight of this is hitting all industries.  One of my husband's manufacturing plants had to shut down in NJ bc the workers contracted COVID from each other!

I told my husband this morning we definitely need to figure out how to have FUN in the evenings!
Just to share work efforts -- One of the support staff on our team sends funny emails each day, and is mailing us silly greeting cards about every 3 days.  It's a great, positive effort and we get a chuckle. Our spirited Development Director sends out a daily email to all company of "self-care" tips.
But, regardless, We need those belly laughs!

    Stay safe, stay home!
    Have a great day!

Boots checking in from South Texas.  Day 12 of working from home and i think i am going stir crazy.  Highlight of the week is when we go grocery shopping on the weekend.  Texas had 3,997 cases and 58 deaths as of noon yesterday.  We have 73 confirmed cases in our catchment area (19 counties) as of noon yesterday.  Governor clarified last night that his latest directive was a stay at home directive except for necessary reasons.  Numbers in San Antonio continue to rise.  Several of our Senior Leadership Team are on 14 day self-quarantine due to possible exposure.

I just finished listening to Frank's first 2 videos on the OIG Hospital CPG and they were excellent as always.

Remember 6, 20, 100  and stay healthy my friends.

Good morning, Gramma Ann checking in.

Illinois is also continuing to climb with 6980 as of yesterday.  I agree - the news does cause a lot of extra stress to what we are experiencing by working in the healthcare field. It is good to stay informed by watching news but in moderation (that is my motto anyway).
I have been getting outside at least once a day for fresh air and that has helped.  I am really missing my daughters and grandkids.  Facebook is what we have for now and it will be so nice when I can hug them all again!

Stay positive everyone and stay safe and healthy.

    Central Florida here,
Well the Governor finally issued a stay at home order effective today for the next 30 days.  He is using the essential business list from Dept of Homeland Security, it is about 3 pages long, in essence all business are essential.  Florida has 7773 cases and 101 deaths, my county is at 93 cases with 1 death.

Finishing week 3 at home and more of my company is going to be working from home.  I am glad that we have technology to make this more efficient.  I have also become IT support (cue the SNL Jimmy Fallon computer guy skit) and lunchlady (cue the Adam Sandler and Chris Farley SNL skit) for the kids that are on virtual learning.  We are having as much fun as we can with this.  It helps to get outside a couple of times a day.

Keep Calm and wash your hands.

I am about 1.5 hours east of the Villages.  That area is in three different counties.  Sumter County, which is where most of the Villages is located (I believe) has 57 cases with no deaths.

Thanks for the update Patrick. That is good to hear...I hope the cases stay low in The Villages...That has the potential to be horrific. So many high risk people in a concentrated area.

My sister-in-law lives there. She is 72, but in excellent health and very active. She still snow skis. She has been in quarantine for weeks now.

Good Morning from the Pacific Northwest, Oregon!

I hope everyone is doing well.  Week 3 of telecommuting is in its home stretch.  I will say the ergonomics are not ideal! Do your wrist and back stretches!  Check your posture!

Yesterday Oregon reported 47 new cases as of 8am. three more for my county, but 18 and 6 for our neighboring counties with whom I work closely with. We consider it the Portland Metro Area.  For the State we have 736 cases of individuals who have tested positive with COVID-19 with 19 deaths. One good thing is we are standing up a hotel for homeless folks who are testing positive or are under monitoring so we can give them a place to rest and access services. Many staff in our department are being redeployed to coordinate services for things like the hotel.

    Please stay safe folks.

Good Morning from Arizona! Cases continue to climb, just shy of 1500 now. Governor put in place a stay-at-home order late last week (ending April 30) but is getting a lot of heat from city mayors because it 's very loose by calling golf courses, salons, and barbershops essential. The order also bans cities from placing more restrictive orders in place although some cities are doing it anyways. I'm finding that many Arizonians are viewing the orders as "suggestions" since there is no "meat" to it. I myself, have been keeping my distance from people. It's given me time to meet my neighbors and one of them is a police officer and on the swat team. He told me that the police department was ordered NOT to pull anyone over during this pandemic except in extreme situations and to only respond to calls when domestic violence is involved in order to avoid exposure. He said most days the police just drive around all day. Time will tell how this all plays out.

This is my second full week working from home, keeping myself busy with books, yard work, walks, and exercising in a little mini-gym I built in my loft. Staying away from the news as much as I can to keep my mind healthy as well. Take care everyone and stay safe out there!

Hawaii here - cases continue to climb but we seem to be earlier on the curve than others.  Small number of tourists still arriving although EVERYONE including residents (except medical personnel and flight crews) that flies in needs to immediately quarantine for 14 days leaving ONLY for medical care or medical appointments, not even for food shopping. Why would someone come here to be stuck in a room all day with delivery food (the scenery out the window???).

Anyway, hanging in there.  Getting out in the fresh air as I can while maintaining distances.  Wishes for a good day for all!
