No reason to freak out about the exam. SCCE does an outstanding job of covering what you need to know to pass the exam. I am a testament to that fact. In Nov 2012 when I attended the academy, I had only been in my compliance job for a few months. I attended the academy thinking I was not eligible to take the exam since I had not been in my position for a year. I talked with the staff and articulated that I had been in compliance-related positions during my Air Force career where I had worked cyber compliance for years. For the 3 years leading up to my switch to compliance, I had worked cadet compliance as the Assistant Commandant for Discipline. I was approved to take the exam the afternoon before. Long story short, I crammed the night before and took the exam, after completion of the academy. As long as you study what they cover, you should be OK. The academy prepares you well for the exam. Of course, a study group should help too.

Compliance 101 (made flash cards for the glossary of compliance terms)

Ch 8 of the Federal Sentencing Guidelines (need to study this more in-depth)

FCPA (need help with this)

There is a detailed content outline on page 24 of the CCEP candidate handbook also.  My cell is (512) 940-6432.
