    This position has primary responsibility for ensuring that HMS effectively manages and responds to privacy incidents and conflict of interest assessments.  Duties include:

     

    • Lead the review of ERIC reports (internal system), and all privacy incident records received from across the organization, to include assessment of the incident, root cause analysis, documentation, and monitoring of remediation plans where applicable.
    • Conduct and document breach analysis as indicated.
    • Work closely and collaboratively with cross-functional peers in Account Management and Operations to ensure that HMS responds timely to privacy related matters. Support teams in process improvement efforts to minimize future incidents.
    • Oversees privacy repository system, including ensuring system tools continue to evolve and are revised, in collaboration with the system technical team, to meet the needs of the business and regulatory changes.
    • Escalates complex/nonconforming conflict of interest documents and privacy matters to appropriate Division Compliance Officers for guidance.
    • Supporting the Compliance Officer for HMS Federal in Federal-client-specific requirements.
    • Championing optimal practices with other members of the Compliance and Ethics Department - streamlining processes, innovating and reducing cost, with a focus on continual process improvement.

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

     

    • Knowledge of state and federal privacy laws, including HIPAA/HITECH
    • Skilled project manager, with strong organizational agility to align across different HMS departments and teams (including  Operations, Account Management, Federal and Commercial teams, and others)
    • Knowledge sharing; team player with a mindset toward servicing internal and external customers in a positive manner
    • Adept communicator-orally and in writing-who relates to all levels of an organization as well as external stakeholders in a positive, cooperative, manner with a "can do" attitude

    • Resourcefulness, takes initiative to learn HMS products, services, and key stakeholders across the organization

    • Organizationally savvy, works effectively with teams in-person and virtually across multiple office locations
    • Adept at learning and working in multiple software programs and applications with ease (Excel, PowerPoint, licensed software)

    Minimum Education

    ·      Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution

    ·      Experience in HIPAA privacy required

    ·      Successful track record administering compliance program components and initiatives-Communications, Training, Privacy, Records Management, etc.

    ·      Must not be currently sanctioned or excluded from any program operated by Federal or State Agencies, including Medicare and Medicaid

    Certifications (Required/Desired)

     

    Healthcare compliance and/or privacy certifications preferred (e.g., CHC, CHPC, CCEP)

    Minimum Related Work Experience

     

    3+ years of experience working for companies in healthcare and/or other highly-regulated industries, and in the key functional areas above.
