    Hi Everyone!

Looks like I am back into study mode and will be taking the CCEP exam by the end of the year. Does anyone know if the Compliance 101 book for CCEP is the same as the CHC Compliance 101 book (just without the HIPAA chapter)?

    Hi Rajiv

That's a great question - I am not sure - interested in finding out the answer though.  :-)

I accidentally bought the HCCA Compliance 101 book on Amazon and, out of an abundance of caution and paranoia, exchanged for the SCCE Compliance 101.  The HCCA version very obviously leans towards healthcare throughout.  However, the messaging/content seemed to be very similar between the two.

To caveat, I leaned HEAVILY on the Complete Compliance and Ethics Manual to study (vs. the 101 book), as it had the "right" level of detail.  I felt like the Compliance 101 book is a good primer/overview for people who don't know the basics of compliance.

    I hope that is helpful.

I would say it is 90% the same.  If you are debating about getting the book v/s not getting the book, to me it isn't a choice.  Get the book.  As you know, most people fail by 1 or 2 questions on all the exams, even CCEP.  Why risk it by not buying the CCEP book for $70?  To me, I have 1 shot at passing like all the other exams I have taken.  I do not have the luxury or resources of taking it again.  So, I bought the book.  If you are lucky, get version 1 if you can find it.  Otherwise, version 2 is the current edition.

I am currently creating an outline, but on Chapter 2.  I read it through the first time just to read it.  The second time, I recorded myself reading the book.  Now, I am going through it by making an outline of it.

    I hope this helps.
