Audit Protocol differences 2016 to 2018

Attached is a copy of the differences between the 2016 and 2018 versions of the OCR Audit Protocol page.
    https://www.hhs.gov/hipaa/for-professionals/compliance-enforcement/audit/protocol/index.html

I happened to have saved the 2016 version pasted directly into Word. I took that version and copied it into an old text editor that I like to still use and did the same for the new 2018 version. I then ran an old Diff program against the two text versions, comparing the two versions. I saved the results into a Word document that is attached. The Diff program display the line numbers as found from the text files. You may have to search a bit to find the actual location of the changes.

Only lines with changes in them are displayed. Gray means nothing changed in that part of the text. Red is text from the old version that is being replaced. Blue is text from the new version that is being inserted.

The comparison includes the introduction section. I've just started reading through the changes. But at a quick glance it appears most of the changes are in the introduction section and then mostly the Breach section.

I hope this helps everyone. I'll be sure to update my version with the changes.

FIRST AND FOREMOST...let me be clear.  This is just another option in the spirit of compare and contrast to see the changes. Carl's work is truly groundbreaking.

Attached is the protocol in Word version which has the track changes so people can see the difference.

Both versions do the trick.  I just wanted to have one in table format so I could more easily scan the differences and see where the changes were located within the layout of the table.

...and...ahem...I think most folks will agree that more edits are on the way...and after a quick scan of the revised protocol...easy to see why...hint...look at the elements related to Group Health Plans...oops!

Frank, this is great!  I'm wondering if I'm doing it wrong?  I see rows that are highlighted gray.  Are those the rows where the changes occurred? I see red vertical lines on the left side, and when I click those, the only changes I see are that the Answer Sheet was formatted.
Thanks so much for sharing your work!

Someone emailed me that they could not see the changes in the Word document I attached.  I sent a copy of the attached PDF and it seemed to work better.  If someone could confirm...much appreciated. May have to do with the different versions of Word...but using PDF may help the document appear more consistently across different computers.
