Hi Alisa,
I'm not sure if this will help but my personal experience with studying and taking this exam has been twofold. I did not attend the academy, but I did sign-up on the online training. It was helpful but during the 3-day training, I was left with too many unanswered questions and wish it was more interactive.
After attending the training and studying for two months, I took the exam and missed passing with a score of 74. Painful.
I decided to take a few months off from studying with a plan to re-take the exam this year. After studying for about 4 months and attending a group training with Caitlyn Tobey, I felt I was ready and re-took the exam this past February and passed.
The moral of this story is, do what you need to feel comfortable with the materials, find a few fellow candidates to study with and share information, and keep in mind many of the questions are 'experience; based such as: 'What would a Compliance Professional (CP) do in this situation?' Also, unless you work in a 'perfect' environment do not consider what your organization would do but what should be done.
Hope that helps,
Regards,
Ray

Subject: RE: Is attending the academy enough to pass the CCEP exam?
In my personal experience, I took the exam after attending the academy, but I did not pass. For me, it was overwhelming, and I wasn't fully prepared to the take exam. I also felt a lot of pressure to pass and that didn't help either. My recommendation is to go to the academy, gain the knowledge, network and enjoy. Then take the exam about a month later since the information is "still fresh." During that time, review the material, look at the tips and material in this library about "how to take this type of exam."
Also, I have known lots of people that have taken this exam without full-time compliance experience after the academy and passed. Sometimes the work compliance knowledge can conflict with your decision to choose the perfect answer.
Best of Luck!

Subject: Is attending the academy enough to pass the CCEP exam?
Hello everyone,
I will be attending the Chicago Basic Compliance and Ethics Academy in May and am *thinking about* taking the exam at the end. Can anyone weigh in on the probability of passing with only the knowledge gained from the academy? Without full-time compliance experience, would it be common to take the exam on the last day and actually pass or am I severely underestimating the study time needed?
Please share your experience, feedback or tips.
Thank you kindly,
Alisa
