As some folks may know...I have a Dept of 1 listserv which is specifically for compliance professionals who operate in a Compliance Department of 1...so I'm looking to see what is posted and shared as it may also provide me some insight to those not on HCCAnet who are on my listserv.

That being said...curious of the seven elements of a compliance program listed in the OIG CPG for hospitals...which are the top 3 that get most of your time and attention given some of the challenges of being a Department of 1?

Someone just sent me the response offlist in that they also also mentioned compliance oversight...as in putting out Compliance Related Fires!  I love it...because that can certainly significantly limit one's time to work in other areas.

In a new role where the company does not have a build out program, the following take up a lot of time, along with Risk Assessment.

    1.)  Written Standards & Policies
    2.)  Training & Education
3.) Program Governance & Administration (Program implementation & maturation)

Once the program is established, then that changes, as we build out the other components (e.g. monitoring and auditing) and the maintenance of the policies and program administration lightens.
