Leveraging the Power of YouTube for Healthcare Education

The power of multimedia and information sharing has taken over the Internet by storm.

If you are looking to find creative ways to drive home a particular topic to your learners, there are hundreds of thousands of videos on YouTube right at your fingertips.

How great is it that with a quick search, you now have access to millions of videos to help you to build and deliver behavior changing content to your learners?

When an organization has a centralized delivery model for training and education… A.K.A. a LMS (Learning Management System), it can quickly develop an online course available to be assigned to all department managers for use during the next upcoming staff meeting.

Or… you can even embed the video into an online course that is easily assignable to the entire organization that must to be completed before the end of the month.

What would the buzz around the hospital be like if you had everyone in the organization view the “Our Lips Are Sealed, the HIPAA version” video?

Our Lips Are Sealed, the HIPAA version:

I’m fairly positive that the song will be stuck in their heads for hours, if not days…

What they don’t know that what was really happening is that you are creating true behavioral change and reinforcement about an important HIPAA privacy concept that the learner will most likely remember for the remainder of their lives.

Next time you are building a course or looking for creative ideas for your upcoming in-service day… Remember to look for videos on YouTube that can help you deliver the most effective training!
