This Blog is dedicated to improving security and privacy of health information. We know this is a complex area, with HIPAA and state laws dominating regulatory requirements. However, with the recent passage of the stimulus bill that provides about $ 20 Billion of funding for accelerating Electronic Health Record use, the, security issues are now even more complex and urgent.
Several questions emerge from this including:
- What added new responsibilities will compliance and privacy officers face responsibilties regarding information security and privacy? How will they manage this?
- What audit steps can, or should compliance officers take?
- How do compliance officers monitor the inappropriate access of Electronic Health Records?
